Release Notes

Software update 02/07/2024 - Pilot Training Record, Enrollment and Graduation Certificates

We are ready to release our 6th major update of the year on Tuesday July 2nd at 07:00 UTC. No downtime is expected for this update.

Just a week after our last update, we are excited to announce another one tailored for our North American clients. This update introduces new student report features designed specifically for the USA and Canada by our dedicated development team.

Here are the new features we are releasing with this update:

  • Exportable Pilot Training Record (PTR) (Transport Canada)
  • Exportable Enrollment Certificate & Graduation Certificate (FAA)
  • Minor improvements and bug fixes

Exportable Pilot Training Record (PTR) (Transport Canada)

PTR-mockup3

Flight training organizations in Canada have long been requesting the ability to export a comprehensive Pilot Training Record for their students. In response to this demand, we are pleased to announce the launch of this feature!

Developed in collaboration with Toronto Airways, the Pilot Training Record is closely modeled after the template they use for their PTRs, which have been approved by Transport Canada. This ensures that the exported record meets the necessary standards and requirements for Canadian flight training organizations.

How do export a PTR from the Student's page

The report is easy to generate for each student. Go to the student's page, select the Reports tab and then click the Report generator. Now, simply set the format to Pilot training record and generate the report. It's as easy as that.

Exportable Enrollment Certificate & Graduation Certificate (FAA)

We have also received numerous requests from flight training organizations in the US for the ability to generate student Enrollment Certificates and Graduation Certificates easily. We are pleased to announce that both of these features are now available with the latest update.

The Enrollment Certificate and the Graduation Certificate are also both available from the student Report Generator as shown above, simply by choosing the correct reporting format.

Minor improvements and bug fixes

The latest update also includes a few minor improvements.

One notable adjustment for all training organizations who prefer to log durations in 1-digit decimals is the updated way in which flight durations are now saved in our databases.

Previously, durations were stored in minutes and seconds. However, since March of this year, FlightLogger has transitioned to saving durations in 1-digit decimals (provided you have selected 1-digit decimals in your aircraft settings) to prevent any rounding issues.

This change effectively eliminates any rounding discrepancies that some users may previously have encountered when logging durations in FlightLogger. It ensures that durations for aircraft maintenance and logging etc in 1-digit decimals are now accurately recorded.

It is important to note that there may be differences in the PTR compared to other FlightLogger data if any durations were logged prior to March of this year.

The PTR report converts all time durations to a 1-digit decimal format before rounding them, ensuring that the PTR always displays accurate durations.

All the best,
