We have ramped up our development team and are already releasing the 4th major update of the year, on Wednesday, April 9th at 06:00 UTC without downtime.
We are thrilled to introduce a new feature in FlightLogger that allows pilots to report squawks or discrepancies on aircraft. This enhancement empowers pilots to document incidents directly in FlightLogger and, when necessary, designate an aircraft as not airworthy. This update underscores our dedication to improving aviation safety by increasing transparency regarding the airworthiness status of aircraft.
Here are the most important new features of the release:
- Report, review and resolve Squawks or Discrepancies on aircraft
- Americas and RoW language profiles of FlightLogger accounts
- Warning and Limits on User Balances
- Minor improvements and bug fixes
For a quick introduction to Discrepancies/Squawks please watch this short video:
Squawks/Discrepancies on aircraft
Pilots can now report issues observed during a flight using a dedicated Squawk/Discrepancy workflow directly within FlightLogger.
This replaces the previously manual process of messaging maintenance staff, offering a clear, trackable workflow aligned with industry standards.
Americas and RoW language profiles of FlightLogger accounts
The new feature is known as Squawks in the Americas & East Asia while in the Rest of the World it is referred to as aircraft Discrepancies. To name the workflow as it is regionally known, FlightLogger accounts are now able to be adjusted to fit the region in which they are used. Allowing as few misunderstandings as possible by using the right aviation terminology in the right areas of the World.
FlightLogger will utilize more aviation specific wordings for different regions going forward. Feel free to contact FlightLogger if your account should rather be set to another locale.
New Squawk / Discrepancy warning
Active Squawk / Discrepancy warnings are now always easily visible by the colored symbol next to the already familiar Maintenance warning wrench symbol.
Depending on the severity of a Squawk/Discrepancy, it may trigger a warning, block bookings or registrations, or simply serve as a notice to maintenance personnel.
Review Squawks / Discrepancies on aircraft
During the preflight easily access the current Squawk/Discrepancy list of an aircraft.Report a Squawk / Discrepancy on an aircraft
- From the aircraft page report an issue with an aircraft and choose the severity.
- The Squawk/Discrepancy creation sends an email notification to the users setup in Designated user roles > Squawk/Discrepancy warning receiver(s).
- Maintenance personnel can afterwards approve or reject the squawk/discrepancy and follow up to have it resolved.
Setup blocking of flight bookings and/or registrations
In order to further prevent accidentally booking or registering a flight on aircraft that is not airworthy it is now possible to block such an aircraft in FlightLogger if it has Squawks/Discrepancies with severities that are 'Not airworthy':
Warning and Limits on User Balances
Weβve enhanced our user balance warning system β especially useful for operators using prepaid flying accounts.
In addition to the existing Credit Limit threshold (yellow warning), a new Credit Warning level can now be set to trigger a new magenta-colored alert when a user balance is running low β but not yet critical.
The new Credit Warning has automatically been set at 50% of the current limit.
The $ symbol will be colored:
π Green β Balance is above the credit limit
π Yellow β Balance is below the credit limit
π Magenta β Balance is below the credit warning
π΄ Red β Balance is below zero
If you do not yet have our User Balance Module for keeping track of user balances please reach out to support@flightlogger.net if interested in this ability.
Minor improvements and bug fixes
In addition to the exciting new features outlined above, our development team has made several minor improvements and fixed various bugs to enhance the overall performance of the FlightLogger service.
Your feedback is important to us! If you have any questions, suggestions, or encounter any issues, please donβt hesitate to reach out to our support team at support@flightlogger.net. We are here to assist you and will respond promptly.
