Understanding CBTA Matrix values
When setting up the CBTA matrix you can customize the values which trigger each colour and what colour it should end up triggering.
The calculation is based on the average deviation from the preset norm which you will set during the creation of the CBTA program.
The average deviation from the norm for a given flight phase and competency is calculated by:
The sum of grade deviation from the norm, Σ(g - n), is divided by the number of exercises performed, #e.
Randomization of numbers in the heat map / matrix is seen below. Colours can be changed from the CBTA matrix settings found under Administration -> Programs.
The calculation of the fraction is shown below with the setup of which colour should be triggered. You can make it with as many variations as you like or the simple way with red/white/green or something completely different. That is entirely up to you and your organization to decide.
The final product displayed for your instructors and students is not containing the decimal point number but the fraction.
The fraction tells you the average deviation (the numerator) and the amount of exercises this is based (the denominator).
An example is shown below.
If we click on e.g. the -1/10 you get the below view which tells you the performance indicators selected by the previous instructor and where the student was deviating.
This video explains how the values inside the CBTA matrix are calculated.
