Release Notes

Version 1.1 of the Departure/Arrival page is live

Ten days ago, we released the brand-new Departure/Arrival page in FlightLogger.

We are thrilled to see that it has been received extremely well by our partners, of which many are already displaying the Departure/Arrival page on info screens at their facilities.

In fact, we are overwhelmed by the positive feedback and great suggestions we have received since then. As well as positive feedback we have also received a lot of suggestions for how the first version could be improved. Thanks a lot to all of you!

As always when stepping into new territory there are certain things that aren’t perfect. Thus, we have spent all available time since the release looking into valuable feedback from our partners and making sure to have a version 1.1 out as soon as possible.

Today we have added the first update with a number of improvements to the Departure/Arrival page, all based on your input.

Here is a recap of the most significant improvements that we have already rolled out:

Improvements to Persons on Board (PoB)

To make sure the Person on Board information is always correct, we have added a couple of improvements:

  • When booking or proceeding a Solo flight lesson, the instructor is no longer counted as a person on board, so as default the PoB is set to 1 for a single student lesson. Note that PoB info reflects your lesson syllabus, meaning it will not change in case you change flight type from SOLO to SPIC or DUAL in the registration.
  • PoB can now also be manually edited by a dispatcher user via the ARRIVAL edit modal as shown below.

Observer and Customer info editable by dispatcher user

Some of our partners have asked us to add the Observer and Customer fields to ARRIVAL edit modal when it's relevant. As of today, users with the dispatcher use role can edit this info from the ground.

  • Observers can be edited by a dispatcher on single/multi student flights
  • Customers can be edited by a dispatcher on operation flights

Improvements to the to comments field

To comply with data protection regulations we have added some additional account settings to better manage who can see comments on the Departure/Arrival page.

The two new settings are found in Administration -> Account settings -> Departure/Arrival:

Show comments in departure & arrival - dispatcher can still see if unchecked.  Use this setting to define whether comments should be displayed on the Departure/Arrival page for all users. As it says, users with the Dispatcher user role are always able to see comments.

Departure comments default to booking comment. This setting defines whether comments made on a booking should be displayed as the default comment on the Departure/Arrival page. Note that dispatcher users can edit the comment via the ARRIVAL edit modal, as shown below.

Note that both these new settings are enabled on your account as default.

Correction of column name in Departure/Arrival export

To make sure data output is easy to understand when exporting the History section, we have corrected the name of the column displaying students, renters and customers on a flight. It's now named student_renter_customer.

Keep sending us your feedback

We really appreciate all the great feedback received from our partners since launching the Departure/Arrival page. We would like to encourage you to keep sending us suggestions and comments which helps us build an even better platform platform for the future.

Stay tuned for the next update which we expect to launch in just a couple of weeks.

Thanks 😊
