The E5X format is related to the ECCAIRS (European Co-ordination Centre for Accident and Incident Reporting Systems) Community Portal. This portal excepts direct import of Safety Management Reports created in other systems such as FlightLogger through a specific format called "E5X".
FlightLogger is unfortunately currently not able to support such an E5X format.
Is FlightLoggers SMS then in-compliant? No, not at all, let us explain:
FlightLogger's SMS main task is to make sure that it's easy for all users to file a report directly to the Safety Manager. Receiving reports is by far the most crucial thing for any safety manager to do his/her work. Therefore making it easy to file a report with FlightLogger (which can be done in 3 clicks) is a very important feature.
Once a report is filed the Safety Manager will be notified and can in FlightLogger (as you probably know) categorize the report into one or multiple headlines for the Safety Manager to keep an updated Hazard log. After receiving a report the Safety Manager will normally do a risk assessment and full root cause analysis which will be related to the specific report but also be used later in the Hazard log.
Finally, any report in FlightLogger can be printed and/or sent by the Safety Manager to any receiver he/she has set up to be a receiver of the specific report type in FlightLogger. The report is today sent out in a standard PDF format and it is in this final step it would be nice to be able to send the report directly to the ECCAIRS Community Portal in the mentioned E5X format.
This is currently not possible in FlightLogger so any report you want to file in the ECCAIRS Community Portal needs to be filled in manually.
