Getting Started

Getting started as an instructor

If you’re new to FlightLogger, this article provides an overview of the key features and workflows you’ll use as an instructor.

Whether you’re preparing for a flight, registering theory lessons, or uploading certificates, this guide will help you get started smoothly.

We recommend watching the 5-minute introduction video:

Logging in

To log in, go to your school’s FlightLogger address — this is typically in the format:
[youracademyname].flightlogger.net

You should see your academy’s logo on the login page. If you don’t, double-check that the URL is correct.

Log in using your email address and personal password.
If you’ve forgotten your password, simply click "Trouble logging in" to reset it via email.

Your front page

Once logged in, you’ll land on your personal dashboard (front page), which provides a quick overview of everything important for you as an instructor:

  • Upcoming lessons: Any bookings made for you — including both flight and class theory — will be shown here. You can either:

    • Cancel the booking if needed (with a reason), or

    • Proceed to complete the booking and register the flight or lesson.

  • Certificate warnings: If any of your required certificates are missing or about to expire, a warning will show here. You can upload renewals directly from this view.

  • Wall posts: Messages from your school’s management. These often include SOP updates, operational notices, or general information.

  • Aircraft statuses: A snapshot of the fleet’s maintenance or dispatch status. Click to view full details on each aircraft.

Top navigation menu

FlightLogger’s top menu gives you access to all relevant modules:

Users

Get an overview of all users in your academy — instructors, students, staff, etc.

Theory

See a full list of class theory lessons you are scheduled to teach or have already completed. You can view lessons per day and navigate back and forth in time.

Operations

Use this tab to register operation flights (e.g., scenic flights, ferry flights) if your organization allows it. You’ll find a step-by-step video guide in our Help Center on how to complete these.

Bookings

The Bookings page is your calendar. Here you can:

  • See a daily, weekly, or monthly overview of bookings (across aircraft, classrooms, instructors, etc.)

  • Filter bookings based on aircraft, instructors, students, or locations

  • Save your favorite filters for easy reuse

Documents

Access all documents that your academy has shared with you — training materials, SOPs, manuals, and more.

SMS

This is your Safety Management System area. You can:

  • Report incidents or observations

  • File maintenance issues

  • Send safety reports to the safety manager

The Message Center

FlightLogger includes a built-in message system. If you see a red number by the message icon, you’ve received a new message.

Messages can include attachments or require sign-off — for example, when new procedures are released. In such cases, you're required to read and confirm that you understand the content. This is logged by the system.

You can also use the message center to send internal messages or attachments to other users in your academy.

Your personal profile

By clicking your name in the top-right corner, you can:

  • View and update your contact information

  • See and manage your certificates

  • Access your logbook

  • Sync your FlightLogger bookings with your personal calendar

  • Set your availability to let the academy know when you're open for bookings

  • Access this Help Center

  • Edit your password and user image

  • Log out of the platform

To return to your dashboard at any time, simply click your academy's logo in the top-left corner.
