Getting started with collaboration

To make it easy to work together with other organizations using FlightLogger, we have now released a collaboration tool to share students' training data among organizations

FlightLogger's Collaboration feature allows organizations to securely share students' flight and ground training data with other FlightLogger organizations. This guide explains how to set up and manage collaborations step by step.

Before you begin, you must have the Collaboration admin role assigned to your account. Only users with administrator access can be assigned this role.

To add yourself as a Collaboration admin, navigate to:

Administration -> Account settings -> Designated user roles and add yourself as a Collaboration admin as below:

Once the role is assigned, navigate to Administration > Collaborations.

To start a new collaboration with another FlightLogger organization, click Request Collaboration.

You can select from all FlightLogger organizations that have not opted to hide their name from the list. If you would like to hide your organization's name, please contact support.

Once you have selected the organization, an email template will appear automatically, allowing you to edit the message before sending the request. To customize the default email template, see Getting Started with Email Templates.

When you click Send Request, the receiving organization's Collaboration admins will receive an email containing your request.

The receiving FlightLogger organization needs to approve the collaboration request by clicking on the link in the email.

Data sharing will not begin until the collaboration request has been accepted and the collaboration shows as active on your Collaborations page, as shown below.

Once your collaboration is active, you can begin sharing flight and ground training program data between the two organizations.

In the collaboration view, the organization that requested the collaboration always appears on the left, and the organization that approved the request always appears on the right.

To begin sharing, click the green Share button. You can choose from the following options:
  • All students -> will share all programs for each student.
  • Programs -> will only share the students in the selected programs.
  • Single student(s) — Will share all flight and ground training programs for the selected student(s).

Students must also consent to sharing their data. They can do this through their own my FlightLogger account. For more information, see Approving Sharing of Student Data.

Once sharing is correctly configured, you will see the external programs for the selected students, as shown below:
