Turning on access
Creating and assigning maintenance requirements requires the Maintenance access - Manage permission. As an administrator, you can grant this yourself in two ways:
- For a whole user role: go to Administration > Permissions, select the role, and enable Maintenance access - Manage.
- For one individual user: go to that user's profile, click Settings, and enable Maintenance access - Manage there.
You do not need to contact FlightLogger support for this. Once the permission is on, the requirement builder becomes available under Administration.
Creating a maintenance requirement
- Go to Administration > Requirements > Create
- In the top bar menu of this window, click Maintenance.
- Click Create requirement.
- Give the requirement a name.
- Choose how the requirement expires:
- Expire on date: the requirement is due on a fixed calendar date.
- Expire on log: the requirement is due after a set number of entries in a specific flight log. When you choose this option, select which flight log the requirement should count against.
- Expire on cycles: the requirement is due after a set number of cycles.
- If needed, turn on Require upload of document and/or Require serial number.
- Set a warning threshold, so users are notified before the requirement is due. This works the same way as warning thresholds on certificate types.
Note: Only one expiry type can be selected per requirement.

Assigning a maintenance requirement
Once a requirement is created, it has to be attached to your aircraft before it takes effect. You have three ways to do this:
By aircraft category Go to Administration > Requirements > Assign, then the Aircraft menu. From here you can attach the requirement broadly to all single engine aircraft, all multi engine aircraft, or all simulators.
By aircraft model Go to Administration > Aircraft > Aircraft Models, select the model, and attach the requirement there. This applies it to every aircraft of that model.
By individual aircraft Go into the specific aircraft's profile, click Settings, then Requirements, and attach the requirement there.
Note: Administration > Requirements > Assign is the only menu for attaching maintenance requirements by aircraft category. Attaching to an aircraft model or an individual aircraft is done from those aircraft's own pages, as described above.
