Getting started with the message center

This video introduces how to get started with the message center

 

Overview

The Message Center in FlightLogger is a built-in tool for internal communication. Depending on your user role, you can send and receive different types of messages, including general updates, maintenance reports, company feedback, or required sign-off bulletins.

You access the Message Center by clicking the message icon in the top-right corner of your screen.

Message types

Your available message types depend on your user role:

User role Available message types
Administrator / Staff / Instructor / Crew Normal, Maintenance, Need Sign-off, Company Feedback
Student / Renter Maintenance, Company Feedback
 
Normal message

Free-form message sent to selected users or groups.

Maintenance message

Used to report technical issues or aircraft discrepancies. Sent to predefined maintenance recipients.

Need sign-off message

Used to distribute important bulletins that require recipients to acknowledge and sign off. Includes tracking and reminders.

Company feedback

Allows users to provide structured feedback to the organization. Sent to predefined feedback recipients.

Predefined recipients (admin setting)

Maintenance and feedback messages are automatically sent to predefined recipients, configured by the company.

To set these:

  1. Go to Administration → Account settings → Designated user roles

  2. Select one or more recipients for:

    • Maintenance messages

    • Feedback messages

    • Discrepancy warning receiver

    • ETA warning receiver

    • Fuel endurance warning receiver(s)

    • Master exercise list admin(s)

    • CBTA admin(s)

    • Collaboration admin(s)

    • Safety manager

    • Data protection officer (DPO) - (contact FlightLogger Support)

  3. Hold Shift to select multiple users

  4. Click Save

These settings ensure messages are always routed to the correct team or person.

Composing and sending a message

  1. Open the Message Center

  2. Choose a message type

  3. Select your recipients (individual users, classes, groups, roles)

  4. Add subject and message text

  5. Optional:

    • Disable replies if you do not want recipients to respond

    • Attach files from your device or from the built-in Document Center

  6. Click Send

All recipients receive:

  • An email notification

  • An in-app message alert

Need Sign-off tracking

For “Need sign-off” messages:

  • You can track who has opened and signed off the message

  • Go to the Sign-off overview in the Message Center

  • Each entry shows recipient status with date/time stamps

  • Click Send notice to missing sign-off to automatically remind users

Quick message links from booking workflow

Instructors can also send messages during lesson handling:

  • When grading a lesson or filling out flight data, you will see:

    • Send maintenance message

    • Send company feedback

    • (If enabled) Send SMS report

These shortcuts open the Message Center directly with the relevant message type preselected.

This makes it easy to report issues or feedback as part of your daily workflow.
