We're ready to release our 6th major update of the year on Wednesday, June 18th at 06:00 UTC. No downtime is expected.
We’re excited to announce a new set of features in our upcoming software release based directly on feedback from our customers. This update brings greater control and visibility to your daily operations, with two highly requested additions and several minor improvements.
Please watch this video for a quick introduction to the new release:
Here are the main features of the upcoming update:
- Oil registration on flights
- Program changelog
- New user permissions
- Minor improvements and bug fixes
Oil registration on flights
One of our most requested features is finally here: The ability to track oil usage on flights in addition to existing fuel tracking. This release introduces a new "Oil added" field on the flight page, allowing pilots to easily log when they've added oil to the aircraft.
Previously, the only thing you could track on a flight was the fuel and the amount already in the tanks and the amount added during the flight. But in the world of aircraft operations, oil consumption is just as important to monitor.
Here’s what’s new:
-
A new "Oil added" field on the flight page lets pilots log when oil is added during a flight.
-
You can now track oil added and average oil consumption since last oil addition is calculated automatically.
-
Valuable data helps your maintenance team identify abnormal consumption or potential leaks.
-
Choose between calculating oil consumption per chosen log types to fit your operation, just like with fuel.
Log added oil where you log fuel uplift today.
This gives you a more complete operational overview and supports better maintenance planning.
To enable oil registration, simply enable it from your account settings -> General settings -> Registrations:
In the aircraft settings you can con figure which unit to use. Note that we have added Quarts (qt) unit for oil registrations, meaning you can choose between liters, gallons, or quarts.
Click here to learn how oil consumption (oil burn) is calculated in FlightLogger.
Also, note that oil registrations have been included in relevant reports (aircraft and raw data).
Program changelog
Another highly requested feature: a full history of your students' training status per training programs. This includes when they were activated, completed, discontinued, or had their status changed in any way. For flight schools, keeping track of student progress is critical.
Previously, you could only see the current status of a student on their profile.
With this update, you now get:
-
A detailed changelog showing when students were activated, completed, discontinued, etc. on a given program.
-
Full audit trail of who made which status change and when.
-
Greater transparency and control for instructors and staff.
The new program changelog can be found under Reports -> Program changelog. Changelogs are sorted by student program status.
By clicking on a program you can see the full history:
Use the User permissions page to control who can see the program changelog.
New user permissions
Based on input from our users we have added a couple of new user permission settings as described below.
Configure access to add extra lessons and amend credited hours
Now you can allow selected user roles or specific users to add extra lessons and/or amend credited hours on students. You'll find the setting in the Students section of User permissions.
Allow users to see instructor details only on the Bookings page
We are adding an option to allow for example students access to see bookings details while hiding everything except instructor details. This can be set in the Bookings section of User permissions:
As always, this release includes a number of minor enhancements aimed at improving the overall user experience. While many of these changes happen behind the scenes, they contribute to a smoother and more responsive platform.
Notable updates include:
- Granting Class access to Guest users. Guest users can now be granted access to both Active/Active & Complete/All students in a class.
- Improvement to the Data Backup Module (DBM). For our clients using our Data Backup Module we have now added a status icon on files in the Document center showing if and when the files were synced to Dropbox/OneDrive.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed feedback. Your feedback helps us make FlightLogger even better for the 200+ flight training organizations that rely on us every day.
All the best,
The FlightLogger Team
