On Monday 25th January at 07:00 UTC we will release a new update to the FlightLogger platform, introducing some exciting features that we know many of you have been waiting for.
These are the most important improvements that we introduce with this update:
- Multiple time zones in FlightLogger
-
Decide whether users can see cancelled bookings on booking pages
-
New program student status 'Discontinued' available in programs and sitting groups
-
Instructors can upload documents to a flight lesson before beginning the registration
Apart from this, we will of course introduce a number of minor improvements and bug fixes, based on the awesome input we keep receiving from you, our partners.
Multiple time zones in FlightLogger
Many of our partners have expressed the wish to be able to use different time zone settings on various parts of the FlightLogger platform. In particular, the option to manage booking/scheduling in local time while registering flights and theory in UTC time has been a popular wish.
This is now possible via the new account settings that we have added in Administration -> Account Settings -> Date & time:
From here, you can now set the following three time zones for your account:
Account & booking:
This setting determines the time zone that booking pages will be shown in. This setting also determines the time zone, in which availabilities are set, among with other areas of FlightLogger.
Flight registration:
This sets the time zone, your flight registrations will be made and shown in.
Theory registration:
This sets the time zone, your theory registration will be made and shown in.
Please note that all registrations are always stored in the FlightLogger database as UTC time. This means that changing your time zone settings will not affect any registrations in your account's database, but old registrations will also be shown in the time zone that you have set.
To see exactly which parts of your FlightLogger account are affected by which time zone settings, please view this article.
User specific time zone settings follow the same rules
Like previously, you still have the option to set specific time zone settings for individual users in FlightLogger. With this update, we have applied similar time zone settings, which means users' personal time zone viewing settings can be edited by admins using the above mentioned three time zone settings.
This can be done for specific users from here:
View this article to learn how to change user-specific time zone settings.
Decide whether users can see cancelled bookings on booking pages
New options have been added in your account settings to define which users types should be able to see cancelled bookings on the booking pages.
These settings are found via Administration -> Account Settings -> Booking
For user types that have the setting enabled, the booking page will include a button with an eye symbol. This button enables/disables cancelled bookings being shown on the schedule.
New program student status 'Discontinued' available in programs and sitting groups
Many of our customers have asked for an additional student status for students that have left their training without completing it. For this reason, we have now added the student status "Discontinued" which can be set for individual students on the programs and sitting groups that they are attached to.
Note that students are not charged as Active when set as either Discontinued, Standby or Completed on all the programs they are attached to - but they will still be able to access FlightLogger unless you block them.
Discontinued students can be selected as a group in the Message Center as well as when sharing in the Document Center.
Instructors can upload documents to a flight lesson before beginning the registration
Just like students are able to upload for example weight & balance sheets, fuel calculations and other files to a lesson beforehand, we have now made this possible for instructors as well. When previewing a lesson, instructors now have the Add attachment option, just like students do.
These were all the big improvements we have added this time along with some minor improvements and corrections. As always, we would like to thank you for contributing to the constant improvements that we make on the platform. Please keep them coming :-)
