It's time for the 3rd major update of the year - introducing features for verifying and blocking flight dispatch, fixed twilight duration, and more.
On Monday the 20th of March at 07:00 UTC we will roll out yet another major update on all FlightLogger accounts. No downtime is expected for this update.
While a big part of this update consists of technical improvements, we will also add some much awaited features - especially to those of our clients that use the dispatching features inside FlightLogger's Departure/Arrival page.
For the quick intro, please watch this short video:
Here are the most important new features we're adding:
- New dispatch warning and blocking feature
- Changes to approve Dep/Arr History as Daily Flight Record in North America
- Fixed twilight duration on the Booking page
- Higher resolution company logo for improved branding of your school/company
New dispatch warning and blocking feature
The dispatching function allows you to let Dispatcher users manage everything that is displayed on the Departure/Arrival page, instead of letting it update based on live in-flight registrations done by instructors, crew, or renters.
We recently introduced the Acknowledgement and authorization feature to help especially our Canadian flight training organizations comply with regional regulations.
This update adds yet another layer to this by making it possible to let FlightLogger verify a customizable set of rules before a flight is dispatched - and block the dispatch if any of these rules are not complied with.
These are the rules we can verify a flight from:
- Acknowledgement missing
- Authorization missing
- Aircraft maintenance missing, expired, or requiring approval
- Certificate missing, expired, or requiring approval
- Message sign off missing
- Flight or duty time above limitation (requires the Flight Time Limitation Module)
- Ground school warning exists
- Student or renter account balance below 0 (requires the Student & Renter Account Module)
The new dispatch blocking feature verifies on above mentioned rules and blocks dispatching if anything is missing.
Note that the dispatch function with acknowledgement and authorization, including the new blocking features, is included and available for all FlightLogger clients. To enable, go to Administration -> Account settings -> General Settings -> Acknowledgement and Authorization, and enable acknowledgement and authorization.
To learn more about the blocking function, go to this help center page.
Changes to approve Dep/Arr History as Daily Flight Record in North America
This update also introduces several minor changes that all together make it possible to use FlightLogger Dep/Arr History page as a Daily Flight Record in North America. The changes have been designed in accordance with input from some of our Canadian clients.
The changes include highlighting of the flight PIC, and the option to display Airborne and Block time in decimals instead of hours:minutes.
This can be set via the account settings:
Note that airborne/block time formatting on reports is still managed via Administration -> Account Settings -> Report settings
Fixed twilight duration on the Booking page
To support clients located in regions where twilight is set based on a fixed amount of minutes from sunrise/sunset, we have added the option to define twilight duration on the booking page.
This can be done in Account Settings in the Booking section:
Higher resolution company logo for improved branding of your school/company
Based on client input we have made it possible to insert your company logo in a higher resolution than previously. We did this to make your school/company stand out even more both on your login page and on my|FlightLogger.
The logo can be changed in our account settings in the Appearance section.
Other minor improvements and bug fixes
Beside adding a lot of behind-the-scene technical and structural improvements, we will add a lot of minor improvements and bug fixes based on the fantastic feedback we receive from all our clients.
Thanks a lot for helping us improve FlightLogger every day, and we hope you like the update 😊
All the best,
FlightLogger
