Two and a half months into 2022 and they are done and ready with the 3rd major update of the year, which will be added to your account on Wednesday the 23rd of March at 07:00 UTC.
This is what you can look forward to
Less than 2 months ago, we introduced duty time logging and monitoring as part of the Flight Time Limitation Module, and we had a lot of insightful feedback from you guys. Much of the feedback concerned the need for duty time reporting, and that’s why we quickly decided to squeeze in an extra update to provide this as quickly as possible – and here it is already!
Together with the new duty time reports, we have added a new optional workflow that allows your dispatch function to ensure the necessary acknowledgements and authorizations before dispatching a flight.
Not least, we added a new option to easily create extra and custom lessons by copying the content and exercises from another lesson on your program.
Of course, we have also taken the opportunity to release some bug fixes and minor improvements with the upcoming update as well.
So here are the headlines:
- New Raw data - duty report
- Duty time added to Activities
- New acknowledgement and authorization workflow
- Create extra and custom lessons based on existing lessons
- Minor bug fixes and improvements
Below you can read more about all the news we will add to your account on Wednesday.
New Raw data - duty report
As mentioned, many partners were quick to ask for some exportable reports when we released the new duty time functionalities. Thus we now add a brand-new Raw data – duty report which holds all information regarding all logged duty time on your account.
Just like our other raw data reports, the Raw data - duty report is exportable as either a csv or xml file, which you can use to create your own custom reports using Excel, Numbers, or a 3rd party system of your choice.
For partners using the Data Backup Module, the new Raw data – duty report can be synchronized automatically just like our existing reports. Simply set how often it should be synchronized via your account settings.
Duty time added to Activities
To also provide a more lightweight duty time report we have added a Duty time section to the Activities page.
From here, administrators can quickly find the most basic information (start and stop times plus comments) about logged duty hours for a specific time period. Individual users with duty time enabled can use the Activities page to easily view and export their own logged duty hours in a list view. It's super easy and follows the same principles as all other activity sections.
New acknowledgement and authorization workflow
To accommodate the wish of a growing number of partners our development team has for a while cooperated with a few selected partners to design a workflow that supports the typical requirements of the flight dispatch function.
In short, our new acknowledgement and authorization workflow requires instructors, students, crew, or renters - depending on type of flight - to acknowledge your organization's standard acknowledgements via their own login before the dispatcher dispatches the aircraft, as shown in the below example.
Acknowledgements and authorizations are logged and can be verified from the Departure/Arrival page, making it easy for you to verify that your flights comply with your requirements by the green icons next to the users and next to the flight status (see example below).
The acknowledgement and authorization workflow is optional and can be switched on via your account settings.
More information about the acknowledgement and authorization workflow can be found here.
Create extra and custom lessons based on existing lessons
To make the process of creating an extra or custom lesson easy and efficient in FlightLogger, we introduce an option to simply copy one of your exiting lessons.
By doing this, the entire lesson is pre-populated with the content of the original lesson. You then simply make the necessary changes (if needed) before proceeding or booking the extra or custom lesson.
You can learn more about custom and extra lessons here.
Minor bug fixes and improvements
Among our minor improvements this time are some new icons plus some changes of wording in the certificate requirement part of FlightLogger - to help make it more user-friendly.
We keep getting amazed by how much you partners involve yourselves in the development of our platform. Whether it's providing us with suggestions or bug reports on a regular basis or even participating at our upcoming workshop next month to help set the scene for FlightLogger's upcoming open API (contact support@flightlogger.net to learn more), it's truly amazing.
We can't thank you, our partners, enough for your contributions - each and every help us make the FlightLogger platform still more valuable every day.
Thank you, keep it coming, and feel free to contact us if you have any questions :-)
All the best,
FlightLogger
