Release Notes

Software update 25/10/2023: Auto-fetch RadarBox flight tracks, improved filter options, and technical updates

We are ready to release a new update of the FlightLogger. software. On Wednesday October 25th at 05:00 UTC we will release this year's 10th major update. We expect a downtime of up to 30 minutes while we roll out the update.

Watch this video for a super quick introduction:

The update introduces some nice improvements to FlightLogger. Also, It holds quite a technical upgrade of the software to optimise the general performance and security of the software. Here are the highlights:

  • Auto-attach RadarBox flight tracks
  • Improved filter options on Booking and Departure/Arrival pages
  • Technical update for better performance and improved security

Auto-attach RadarBox flight tracks

With the upcoming update we introduce auto-attaching of flight tracks from RadarBox. In short, it means that the software will fetch and attach the correct flight track from RadarBox in real-time based on the flight times entered by the instructor or PIC during registration.

This enhancement will greatly improve the efficiency and ease of flight registration for those using the RadarBox integration. It's completely free with FlightLogger and only requires that you set up RadarBox flight tracking on your aircraft as explained here.

Flight tracking

With this update, the Flight Tracking section has been moved from the Debriefing tab to the Flight tab where it rightly belongs.

Note that right after the update we will load thousands of flight tracks in FlightLogger. This may cause some delay in retrieving flight tracks for up to an hour after the update is released.

Improved filter options on Booking and Departure/Arrival pages

In response to numerous inquiries, we are excited to introduce a new option that gives you the ability to choose between AND and OR filters when setting up filters on the Booking and Departure/Arrival pages.

Previously, our default filters were set to OR, but with the addition of the AND filter, you can now create filters that require all selected requirements to be fulfilled in order to meet the filter criteria.

This gives you more flexibility and control over your filtering options.

Technical upgrade

It cannot be all fancy new features. Our developer team also has a super important task of keeping the software in the best possible shape to ensure a fast and reliable performance. So this time, a huge part of the update consists of numerous technical enhancements, upgrades, and updates to the underlying infrastructure.

Just like the referee in a sports match who's best possible achievement is when nobody noticed him, this upgrade aims to ensure that the software works faster, better, and more securely in the future without causing any disruptions or issues.
