Getting started with the integrated booking system
The booking system is where you create, edit and move all flight and ground bookings. This article is the main guide: watch the full walkthrough, follow a worked example of booking a single student, then learn how to move and edit bookings afterwards.

Example: creating a single student booking
The interactive demo below walks through one complete booking — a single student with one instructor, flying one lesson. Click through it at your own pace; no account or test data needed.
The same steps in writing:
- Click on Bookings.
- Click on Day/week/month view.
- Click and drag across the aircraft row to mark out the time slot. Drag from the start time to the end time — the booking window opens with those times pre-filled.
- Click on the Instructor dropdown, then click the instructor you want to assign.
- Click on the Student dropdown, then click the student you want to assign.
- Click on the Program dropdown and select the training program, for example Private Pilot License.
- Click on the Session type dropdown and select Flight lesson.
- Click on the Session dropdown and select the lesson.
- Click on Create.
Booking two students on the same flight
When two students share the same flight, create a multi student booking instead of a single student booking. Set the booking type in the dropdown at the top of the booking window when you create the booking.
Each student gets their own program and session in the same booking window, and both must be filled in.
For how the flight is registered and graded afterwards, and how PF/PM time appears in the aircraft report and in the logbooks, see Multi student bookings and flight registration (PF/PM).
Status icons in the dropdowns
Each user in the Instructor and Student dropdowns is shown with a row of small status icons. Hover over any icon to see what it covers:
| Icon | Shows |
|---|---|
| Document | Certificate status |
| Envelope | Outstanding sign-off messages |
| Calendar | Availability |
| Clock | Flight and duty time limitation status |
| Chalkboard | Ground training warnings |
| Dollar sign | Account status |
Green means no issues. Use these to spot a problem — an expired certificate, or a student who is not available — before you commit to the booking.
Matching times to the lesson
Next to the Session field there is a clock icon that adjusts the booking times to match the selected lesson:
- First click adjusts the briefing times.
- Second click adjusts the flight time.
When the clock icon is green, the booking times match the selected lesson.
You can also set times individually using the icons in the booking window: the chalkboard icon for briefing time, the aircraft icon for departure time, and the comments icon for debriefing.
If a warning appears
If something about the booking needs attention, FlightLogger shows a confirmation screen before saving. You can either continue, or choose Go back and change the booking to return to the form and adjust it.
Moving and editing a booking
Once a booking exists in the calendar:
- Move it to another time or aircraft — drag the booking block to a new position in the calendar.
- Change its duration — drag the top or bottom edge of the block to extend or shorten briefing, flight, and debriefing times.
- Edit its details — click the booking to reopen the booking window, change any field, and save.
