Software update 04/10/2021 – Featuring the new AirNav RadarBox integration

We are super excited to finally announce the 7th major FlightLogger update of the year. Our developers have been working overtime for months to finalise some amazing new features that we really hope you will like.

Hello everybody,

The update will be added to your FlightLogger platform on Monday the 4th October at 05:00 UTC. Please expect up to ten minutes of downtime while we update your systems.

First of all, we can't wait to show you our brand-new integration with AirNav RadarBox that lets you retrieve and store flight tracks in FlightLogger automatically without adding any extra hardware to your aircraft.

Apart from that, we have some other valuable new features for you. These are the highlights of the upcoming platform update:

  • AirNav RadarBox integration: retrieve and store flight tracks in FlightLogger
  • Choose between Tach, Hobbs, Airswitch, and other aircraft timers
  • Improved student exercise tracker
  • CBTA matrix improvements for partners using FlightLogger CBTA Pro
  • Improvements to HIL and Subgrades on student program overview
  • Additional improvements and bug fixes

We recommend that you spend a couple of minutes studying our introduction to the new features below.

AirNav RadarBox integration: retrieve and store flight tracks in FlightLogger

Why not make use of the fact that most aircraft are already equipped with hardware that enables flight tracking via an online service like AirNav RadarBox? That's generally the question that sparked the idea for our latest development.

Our brand-new integration taps into AirNav RadarBox's flight monitoring data and automatically retrieves your aircraft's flight tracks to store them inside FlightLogger - so you can access them whenever needed.

Your flight tracks automatically become available right from flight debriefing and can be attached to lesson, operation, or rental flights for easy future reference.

Aircraft flight tracks can be downloaded from FlightLogger's Aircraft page as well as from individual flight registrations - and opened in Google Earth or other suitable applications.

Learn more about the new AirNav RadarBox integration and follow our guide to get started here.

Note that the integration requires an AirNav RadarBox business account and API subscription. A business account can be obtained for free by sharing your local ADS-B tracking data by following the instructions found here.

Choose between Tach, Hobbs, Airswitch, and other aircraft timers

A lot of our partners have reported interest in being able to select from various aircraft timers when logging flight time in FlightLogger. For that reason, we have now added the option to define a specific timer on each of your aircraft. You can choose between:

  • Tach
  • Hobbs
  • Airswitch
  • VDO
  • DATCON
  • EDU
  • Flight time

We also allow you to choose between logging Decimals and Hours:Minutes. The timer options are set per aircraft to give you optimal flexibility of use.

Of course, your aircraft maintenance requirements can be configured to follow your selected timer settings accordingly.

Learn more about configuring timer settings on your aircraft here.

Improved student exercise tracker

The third major development we release with this update is a much-improved student progress tracker that helps you efficiently monitor the progress of your students.

The progress tracker enables you an easy overview of how a student has performed on specific exercises within a program or even a program phase, displaying the highest given grade and the number of times an exercise was performed by the student. A single click on an exercise lets you dive deeper and see the student's exercise progress on each lesson across the selected program/phase.

Of course, the improved exercise tracker is fully exportable.

CBTA matrix improvements for partners using FlightLogger CBTA Pro

Just like the aforementioned exercise tracker on the student page, the student's CBTA matrix is now also easily available for FlightLogger CBTA Pro partners. Similar to the exercise tracker, you can now specify for which CBTA-enabled programs and phases the CBTA matrix should display student competencies and performance indicators.

Not least, as a little extra bonus to the improved exercise tracker described above, for CBTA-enabled programs, the highest required norm on each exercise is shown on the exercise tracker together with the above-mentioned information - including in exports.

The same applies to the student program reports that now also include norm grades on CBTA-enabled programs.

Improvements to HIL and Subgrades on student program overview

Based on input from our partners we have improved the level of information available regarding HIL and subgrade exercises on the student program overview.

With this new update, all HIL and subgrade exercises are shown at the bottom of the student program overview. We have made all the most important information available from here, with one-click access to relevant lessons, exercise trackers, and instructors. Try it out and let us know what you think.

Additional improvements and bug fixes

As always when we release a software update, it includes a lot of minor improvements and bug fixes. This update holds more than a hundred improvements in total - most of these based on the fantastic reportings, questions, and suggestions coming from FlightLogger partners around the world.

So, thank you all for contributing with your input to make FlightLogger the best possible platform for managing flight training operations.

Feel free to write us via support@flightlogger.net if you have any questions.

Regards,
