It's time for another major update of FlightLogger. This year's second major update will be rolled out on your account on Wednesday the 16th of February at 07:00 UTC. It doesn't require any downtime on your platform.
Dear Clients,
The upcoming update introduces three major improvements and many small ones. The first one is the introduction of duration registration on all kind of theory types. The second one has to do with managing user access to protect the privacy of your users, and the third one is a redesign of the user profile in FlightLogger.
So, these are the highlights of the new update:
- Duration registration on all theory types (with option to include in theory course progression)
- Improvements to user privacy management (new user access limitation settings)
- Re-designed user profile with tabs
- Minor improvements and bug fixes
Below you will find a further introduction to the new features. We highly recommend that you get familiar with the new possibilities we have added :-)
Duration registration on all theory types (with option to include in theory progression)
Many partners have asked to be able to capture duration of progress tests, theory releases, exams, and type questionnaires with an option to include the logged time in the overall theory progression.
This update enables just that. Just like with class theory sessions, you can now log the duration of these sessions and register your students as partially attended or not attending. To provide optimal flexibility we allow you to set for each theory course whether durations should be included in the overall progression.
You can learn more about this here.
Improvements to user privacy management (new user access limitation settings)
To better protect the privacy of your users, this update introduces three brand-new privacy features. Here's a short intro to each of them:
Restrict user access for individual users
Firstly, we introduce some new optional restriction settings that you can apply to individual users. With this new update, you can define exactly which users - or groups of users - an individual should be able to access information.

Hide information of staff, crew, and instructors
Secondly, we introduce some new possibilities to hide information on all staff, crew, or instructors. Using these options will ensure that only administrators can see any information on these users.

Limit which user data guest users are allowed to see
Thirdly, we introduce some new settings that limit what information your guest users are allowed to see. For each guest user, you can now define which categories of information are made available.

Re-designed user profile with tabs
Our developers have redesigned the user profile to group the most important information under the following tabs:
- Basic info
- References
- Notes
- User activity
- Emergency contact
These tabs are already used when limiting which data a guest user is allowed to see, as described above.
Minor improvements and bug fixes
As usual, we will include a lot of small bug fixes and minor improvements with the update. The amount of suggestions and feature requests we receive from our partners is tremendous, and we are truly thankful for your investment in constantly evolving our solution.
We do our very best to prioritize what provides the most value to most partners. We highly appreciate all the input you send to us and we sincerely hope you will continue to challenge and inspire us in the future.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write to support@flightlogger.net.
